Join us as we honor our servicemen and women! Representatives of all branches of the service will be here to show you about today’s military. Georgia Army National Guard will have a display of some of their current equipment and you can view displays of historic uniforms and equipment. Visit with a retired or active duty service member, speak with a representative of the Department of Veterans Affairs, hear the 116th Band perform at eleven! Memorabilia on display in the historic depot will include: Revolutionary and Civil War Uniform Replicas Authentic Vintage Weapons Shadow Boxes and Photographs We will also celebrate Locomotives and the History of Barrow County! Meet Frank Brubaker - formerly an engineer on steam engines like the Gainesville Midland 208 - who will be explaining how the old steam engines worked. He and Jim Baughman will share their collections of rail memorabilia. CSX will also be here with information on today’s trains. Tour the historic train depot, the Gainesville Midland 208, the Caboose Museum and the Historical Society Museum. Join us for a day of fun! There will be food, games, activities and live entertainment all day. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Department will be doing child fingerprinting and have safety information for parents.
