We are seeking an Onsite Safety Representative to join our growing team. Position Summary

The Onsite Safety Representative is responsible for monitoring and promoting a safe work environment on assigned commercial roofing and construction projects. This position is dedicated solely to safety compliance and does not perform production or supervisory duties.

The Safety Representative will be present on-site whenever work is being performed to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements. This individual will identify hazards, document observations, attend safety meetings, and support the company's commitment to maintaining an incident-free workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Be physically present on assigned job sites during all scheduled work activities.
  • Monitor daily work practices to ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices and communicate corrective actions to site supervision.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and project-specific safety reports and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Verify employees are wearing and properly using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor fall protection systems and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the project.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Attend owner, general contractor, and subcontractor safety meetings as required.
  • Assist with incident investigations by gathering information, documenting findings, and preparing reports.
  • Maintain organized safety records and project documentation.
  • Report safety concerns and compliance issues promptly to management.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through professional communication and leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding investigations and company information.
  • Perform other safety-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic reporting systems)
  • Ability to recognize hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel to multiple project locations as needed

Preferred

  • 2+ years of construction safety experience
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • OSHA 510, CHST, or other safety certifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of construction safety regulations
  • Excellent hazard recognition and observation skills
  • Professional and confident while enforcing safety requirements
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to promoting a proactive safety culture

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on active construction sites
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work areas
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility vest, and fall protection equipment

Work Environment

  • Active commercial roofing and construction job sites
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and construction equipment
  • Frequent travel between assigned project locations
  • Schedule may include early mornings, overtime, weekends, or extended hours based on project needs

Experience:

  • Commercial construction: 2 years (Required)
  • Construction Safety: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • OSHA Training Program 30-Hour (Required)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • OSHA 510, CHST, or comparable safety certifications (Preferred)
  • driver's license (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 100% (Required)
